2005 Saranac Canoe Trip

Participants: Dean, Scott II, Scott Sr, George

Troop 53 returned to the Saranac Region for another week-long canoe trip. We camped at Rollins Pond State Campground for 2 days. While camping there, we went into town to shop. We especially loved the ice cream wagon that visited our campground every night. We staged a vehicle at Second Pond Boat launch where we pulled out at the end of the trip.

At this campsite, we shared the island with people who we learned were from Catskill. It's a small world. They were very friendly.

The day that this picture was taken, it was very cold and windy. As luck would have it, just as we got ready to bath, the clouds parted, and the sun came out to warm everything up.

"Scott, where are you taking us?" Scott II wanted to try stern paddling, where he was responsible for steering the boat. Until he got used to it, the canoe drifted every which way...into the weeds, over rocks, etc. By the end of the week he was pro. Bain had never bow paddled, so he was equally out of his element.

This rock was completely covered with bird poop. Eeeeeeewwwwww!
