2002 Spring Camporee
Mr. Bain and Mr. Anderson (Troop 36) were hosts to the 2001 Spring Camporee at the Mountain Top Historical Society in Haines Falls, NY. Our site featured a restored railroad station (circa 1913) constructed by the Ulster&Delaware Railroad for serving the various hotels and summer guests of the early 20th century. The camporee was an exciting blend of fun competitions and worthwhile service projects.
Several hours were spent doing trail clearing, brush cleanup, limb cutting, trash cleaning and other conservation projects. As a result of our efforts the entire 21 acre campus is in great shape! According to the volunteer groundskeeper, we did what could've taken his regular volunteer crews up to 10 years.
All participants who completed the service project and participated in the historical program earned the BSA Historic Trails Program. Troop 53 won 2nd place in the Dinner Competition with it's "Cedar Plank Trout" recipe.
